Good
hydration helps to stay sharp!
No wonder that good hydration helps maintain mental performance:
the brain is made up of 85% of water.
As a matter of fact, studies carried out on healthy adults show
that moderate dehydration of only 2% of body weight can alter
certain cognitive functions such as concentration, visual
tracking, alertness, short-term memory and can lead to a state of fatigue.
Good hydration helps maintain physical performance

When exercising in a hot environment (30°C or more), a drop
in water level as little as 2 % of body weight (1.5l for an 75kg
adult) can significantly reduce physical endurance and adversely
affect sports performance such as dexterity and muscular
strength. Rehydration
at all times!
Ensuring proper hydration is also important before,
during and after physical activity.
To compensate for water loss due to exercise, everyone should ideally drink
the equivalent of their water body loss to avoid negatives effects on performance.
It takes more than just a glass
of water to rehydrate!
How much water does the body need? Each person needs
to match water inputs with water loss. The precise amount of water depends
on factors such as age, activity and surrounding environment.
For example, to replenish the water loss of about 2.5l, in a temperate climate,
a healthy adult could typically ingest 1.5l of water through beverages, with
food providing 700ml on average and the body itself producing about 300ml.
